Curriculum MapResources to create CM. This course is Technical Writing. In this educational environment of information overload and gathering, the students will be learning how to gather information, especially from the Internet, processing it through many filters, and publishing their work on the web via, blogs, webpages, wikis, and second life. Student inquiry is the central focus of the course. The course will present scenerios online and the students will follow their own and learned methods of inquiry in meting out the crucial elements of the information and then applying to themselves as they prepare for the rigors of college. The students will produce a product to help the teacher and others determine comprehension and acquistion of the information via web based essays and reports of no fewer than 250 words. The materials used in the course will be the Internet to gather and present information. Effectiveness of instruction will be ascertained from the product of the students and it will demonstrate their understanding of the material gathered and from the observations made by the students about that information. RESOURCES: Google accounts for Blog and email FreeWebSpace for webpages. Wikispaces for wikis. Vocabulary: The students will study the etymology of words. This study focuses on Latin and Greek root words. Book Reviews: The students will read a novel a month. They will write a book review for each book. I am: The students will explore their genius as defined by Thomas Armstrong. They will construct their mosaic of genius. Journal: The students will maintain a journal that records their inquiry into their scholarship and education. Poetry: The students will be studying poetry and writing poetry. Short Story The students will be reading short stories and writing about them and creating a short story. Newspapers & Magazines: The students will be reading the newspapers and selected magazines for non-fiction reading assignments. The Essay: The students will be studying about the essay, reading essays, and writing essays.
